Laser therapy treatment is a safe, painless, medication-free treatment for your pet.
We have recently added a Class IV Cold Laser therapy treatment at Fox Hill Veterinary Clinic. This treatment uses infrared light that increases metabolic activity at a cellular level to decrease pain and inflammation, and also helps assist with faster healing time.
Cold laser therapy is a good treatment for both dogs and cats. It can be used for a large variety of ailments such as:
Arthritis
Hip Dysplasia
Joint and nerve injuries
Ligament or tendon injuries
Post Surgical incisions
Muscle injuries
Skin lesions
Lick granulomas and hot spots
Neck and back pain
Neuromuscular and Musculoskeletal diseases
Cold laser therapy is safe for your pets. Within the treatment there is little to no sensation from the infrared light. Uncommonly, the treated area may be sensitive for a short amount of time following treatment but will subside quickly. This treatment style has been around for decades with high success and low reports of side effects. We also use protective eye-wear on your pets to ensure safety while using infrared light.
What should the client expect?
One of the wonderful things about this treatment is that there is no need for sedation and little need for restraint. With treatments only lasting a few minutes, the pets are generally at ease during the procedure.
Improvements may be seen as early as the first treatment. While each pet is unique, some may feel a greater comfort and better mobility within 12-14 hours following a treatment. But, for continued success, several treatments may be required depending on the Veterinarian’s recommendation.
There will not be a complete cure after one treatment. Multiple treatments lead to a greater outcome. Keep in mind, this procedure will help with arthritis pain, but is not a cure.
